Our Story

A legacy of quality, customer support, and community

“Hey! Where’s the fire?”

In the early 1970s, Dallas attorney Don Lucas was ahead of his time. A passionate runner in an era when jogging raised eyebrows, Don gathered a group of like-minded friends “The Nooners” to run together at White Rock Lake. Inspired by running legends like Frank Shorter and Steve Prefontaine, they were early adopters of a fitness movement that was just beginning to take shape.

But there was one problem: running shoes didn’t really exist. So Don, with help from his wife Sharon, tracked down a small Oregon company called Blue Ribbon Sports (now known as Nike) and began importing shoes for himself, and eventually, his friends.

As demand grew, shoes started filling the Lucas garage and their living room became a de facto fitting room. When late-night calls for shoes became too much, Don and Sharon opened the first Luke’s Locker on Oak Lawn in Dallas.

We carry our legacy right into today with our key values, expert shoe fittings, top customer service, and giving back to the community (be sure to check out a social run).
